Breakdown
A local customer had a skid steer with a persistent no-start fault that had been difficult to pin down. The next step on the table was to crane it onto a truck and send it to Townsville for specialist diagnostics, with all the downtime and freight that comes with that.
Word of mouth brought the customer to Port City. We sent one of our apprentices, backed by the knowledge and guidance of our senior technicians. He worked through the fault, found the cause and fixed it. Within a couple of hours the skid steer was running.
A difficult fault was solved on site by an apprentice with the right training and an experienced team behind him. We do not just employ skilled technicians. We develop them.

Return client
Komatsu Gladstone came back to Port City for specialised mechanical work: a WA600 engine mid-life rebuild, a D61 engine mid-life rebuild and electrical harness repairs.
Christmas was close and the end of year deadlines were tight, so there was little room for delay. We took ownership of the work with one aim, to meet the dates without letting the standard of the repairs slip.
When the pressure is on, we find solutions, get the job done and stand behind the workmanship.

Labour hire
A customer secured a major contract and needed to scale up quickly, so Port City stepped in. Our fitters wore the customer's company uniforms, our field service vehicles were rebranded under their banner, and we started work as part of their team.
We put our own branding aside to help them build the workforce, capability and confidence to deliver a larger contract. The focus was a shared commitment to getting the job done.
We are here for more than filling a labour position: long term relationships, and backing customers when it matters, even when the name on the shirt is theirs.
